Well, last week was so promising! Seven days of training in a row and then week 2 starts and I'm checking out. Oh wells.
Monday
Today was my rest day and it felt good to do so. Worked at night.
Tuesday
Headed down to the BAC to swim outside. It was actually really nice out, sunny-ish. Got a bit of a tan and kicked ass on the swim workout. I can tell I am getting stronger and faster. Gaze longingly over at the masters class and wonder if I should join, even tho I know that my heart supposedly belongs to the Temescal Masters....if I ever make it over there to try it out. Worked at night.
Wednesday
Meant to run (because I have SERIOUSLY been neglecting it) but I woke up too late and then had to rush around to go to jury duty. Spent the afternoon at the court house. Got dismissed til next week. Rode my bike home in semi-rain. Jury duty really sapped my energy because all I wanted to do was lay on my couch and watch a movie with the heat cranking and eat a giant bowl of food.
Thursday
Met Mike Kyle over in Livermore again. We decided to redo the route that we did on Sunday (and didn't quite make 45 miles on). The 45 minute or so climb wasn't bad at all. Especially since I had Mike at my side and we were chatting all the way up. We decided to roll down the other side and see how far we could get. Rumor has it the road goes all the way into San Jose. We got about 18 miles out and at my urging we turned around. It was really beautiful but I was kinda bored. I mean, it was taking FOR. EVER. to reach 20 miles and I just couldn't take it anymore. In hindsight I was probably just getting tired. So we turned around and dreaded the climb back to the summit but get this. The road was so weird. When we were descending I could tell that it was a gently, soft slope but little did I know that we were actually descending on an uphil because when we turned around to go back up hill, we were actually going faster up hill than when were going down hill? Get it?
I know. It's confusing. But the short of it is, when we turned around to climb back to the summit we were descending yet gaining altitude. Yeah. I have no effing idea how that worked out either. Alls I know is IT WAS AWESOME! It took us like 2.5 hours of riding to the turn around and seriously about 1 hour hour to get back. The best part was when we got off Mines Road we busted out a 20mph average because we wanted to get back to the Waffle House before it closed at 3pm! Waffles were had by all with 15 minutes to spare. (and I am not eating wheat...except that one time!)
Vegged out the rest of the night.
Friday
Hit the pool at the BAC and it. was. cold. Kicked out a pretty good swim through bouts of sunshine and rain, but nearly turned into a pillar of ice when I got out of the pool. Went to work but left early because of the early morning team workout the next day.
Saturday
Went to San Ramon to meet with the team and have a talk on nutrition. I was late. Oops. For some reason I thought it started at 8:45a and it really started at 8:30a. Afterwards, we hopped in the pool and was in a lane with Neil/Neal again. He swims a bit faster than me so it was good, in a way, because it pushed me out of my comfort zone. At about an hour and 15 minutes I had to get out and get ready to go to work.
Sunday
Well, I should've run. But it was gross and raining so intead I half-heartedly cleaned my house and then walked to Bi-Rite to buy an expensive chicken, of which I roasted with onions, fennel and fingerling potatoes. Yum!
I feel bad that I took 3 days off this week... Goals for next week! Get back to spin class with M2, check out the Temescal masters class, and NOT get picked for jury duty.
